Research, the Chief’s Administrative

the Homicide Branch.
Captain Snow was graduated from Indiana
University summa cum laude with degrees in
Criminal Justice and Psychology. He has
also been a publishing writer for well over 20
years, with dozens of articles and short
stories in such national magazines as
Playboy, Reader’s Digest, LAW & ORDER,

all which use his police experience to

Complete Guide to Personal and Home Safety,")"SWAT Teams," "Family
Abuse," "Stopping A Stalker," "The Militia Threat" (which a second edition of

and Law Enforcement: From Gumshoe to Gamma Rays"

No one wants to be robbed at gunpoint, or have his car
stolen, or his house robbed. When these crimes
happen, victims may feel angry, afraid, or violated. But
there is no violation quite so devastating as sexual
assault. Victims do not recover easily--either
emotionally, psychologically, or physically from such
incidents, and the long-term impact can have
devastating effects on the victims, their families, and
communities. Investigating sexually based crimes is
particularly difficult for many reasons. Often the
collection of evidence requires a medical examination of the victim--a second
violation of sorts. Police must interview the victim, who must recount his or her
assault. Often, the victims are children, and offenders range from family
members to perfect strangers. But investigating and prosecuting these crimes
is crucial to the healing process of many victims, and to the safety of society
at large.
Of all crimes, murder fascinates the public more than
any other. While considered a detestable act, for which
society reserves its severest punishments, homicide still
captivates the American public. But the way homicide
and its investigation are depicted in our media fail to
capture just how murders get solved. Here, Snow takes
us on a tour of murder, its investigation, and its
prosecution form the perspective of a seasoned
homicide detective. From the commission of the crime to
the collection of evidence, examination of the crime
scene, roundup of suspects, interrogation, and resolution, he leads readers
from the scene tothe courtroom, stopping along the way to consider all the
elements that go into a murder investigation. He considers the culprits, the
motives, the victims and their families, and offers readers a glimpse into the
actual techniques and methods used to solve real crimes. This volume will
fascinate and inform anyone interested in knowing the truth behind the scene
of the crime of murder.

How does a Vampire Cult differ from a Satanic Cult? How
do seemingly "normal" or "ordinary" citizens suddenly
find themselves committed to a group whose leader
promotes criminal activities and isolation from families
and friends? What should you do if a loved one
becomes indoctrinated by a potentially dangerous cult?
This book focuses on various cults and their often
criminal belief systems. Most readers are shocked by
stories of mass suicides and ritualized cult killings, but
few understand how such crimes come to be committed.
Snow, a seasoned police officer with experience working on cult crimes,
examines those cults that commit offenses from murder and fraud
tokidnapping and sexual assault.
By providing specific accounts of dangerous cults and their destructive acts,
Snow illustrates how seemingly innocent groups can turn pernicious when
under the sway of a charismatic leader with an agenda, or when members
take things too far. He offers advice on how to avoid falling victim to cult
indoctrination, concluding with chapters on how to identify cults, how to
protect yourself and your family, and what to do if a loved one is ensnared by
such a group.

This book provides readers with the privileged wisdom
only a seasoned police officer possesses. Using his
over 30 years on the police force, Captain Snow shows
readers that there is no crime that is unpreventable if
potential victims only knew what signs to look for. And
even for those individuals who have a lapse of caution
and find themselves the victim of a crime, Captain Snow
shows how to minimize the effects. In the second edition
of this book, Captain Snow shows that the new threat to
American citizens everywhere---terrorism---is also a
crime that can be prevented or minimized. Using his vast knowledge about
crime, Captain Snow takes us step by step through every type of crime,
showing us how criminals operate and how we can foil them.
Called by experts “the quiet crime,” family abuse is one
of the most widespread, yet misunderstood, problems
existing in our society today. In this book Captain Snow
gives readers a startling look, as only a veteran police
officer can, at the violence, tears, and terror that daily
shatter millions of homes and lives. Covering such
subjects as child sexual abuse, spousal and elderly
sexual abuse, physical abuse, financial abuse, neglect,
emotional abuse, and control, Captain Snow shows us
the terror and abuse that millions of victims suffer
through every day. But through his years in law enforcement,Captain Snow
also gives us solutions which victims can use that will bring this enormous and
heart-wrenching problem under control.
Like family abuse, stalking is a crime widely
misunderstood. While many people see stalkers as
simply lovesick people pining away for someone who
doesn’t love them, all too often stalkers are actually
mentally ill, potentially violent, and occasionally even
deadly. In this book, Captain Snow provides readers
with the crucial information they can use to protect
themselves and their loved ones from all types of
stalkers. He also outlines much-needed advice on how
to prevent stalking before it starts, as well as step-by-
step guidelines on what readers can do to deter a stalker. Most important,
Captain Snow shows readers how to get the legal system on their side, and
then use it
Every night, it seems, our favorite television news
anchors show us stories about someone being held
hostage by a gun-wielding criminal or about a crazed
sniper hiding in some high-rise building waiting to shoot
innocent victims. Viewers then see the heavily armed,
black-clad members of a police SWAT team rushing into
the building and rescuing innocent victims or arresting
the perpetrators. In this anecdote-driven book Captain
Snow takes us behind the scenes of police SWAT teams
and shows us exactly how they operate. Without the
use of police jargon, he shows us how a police SWAT team is assembled, how
the SWAT team’s armaments are chosen, how hostage negotiators attempt to
defuse volatile situations peacefully, and how the SWAT team plans for an
assault in the event the hostage negotiators fail. Most important, he shows us
how the SWAT team executes its assault plan if it becomes necessary to
storm a location. Using real-life SWAT events, Captain Snow shows us both
SWAT’s failures and its many successes.

An ominous shadow looms across America. While many
people worry about war in faraway places, a much more
imminent danger of war lurks closer to home---the
private militia. In just a few years, these groups of
heavily armed citizens have mushroomed across the
country, uniting around a common cause---hatred of the
government---and using propaganda, threats, and often
violence to further their objectives. In this book, Captain
Snow takes us on a behind-the-scenes tour of these
heavily armed and conspiracy-driven groups. He shows
us incident after incident in which these groups have responded violently to
some situation, often on the mistaken belief that one of the dozens of
conspiracies they believe in has come true. In this anecdote-driven book,
Captain Snow shows us the real danger these groups present to the safety of
every American citizen.
In this book Captain Snow investigates the truth behind
claims of reincarnation. Over the years many people
have claimed that they’ve lived lives before their present
one, and many people also claim to be able to see
scenes from these lives while under hypnosis. Allowing
himself to be hypnotized by a clinical psychologist who
regularly employs past-life regression therapy in her
practice, Captain Snow then uses the skills he has
honed from over 30 years as a police officer to
investigate what he said and saw while under hypnosis.
In this book Captain Snow settles the questiononce and
for all: is reincarnation true or simply wishful thinking?

Robert Snow uses his vast experience in policing to enlighten, assist and entertain
ordinary citizens in dealing with serious social problems. As an example, his book on
cults asks and answers a variety of important questions: How does a Vampire Cult
differ from a Satanic Cult? How do seemingly "normal" or "ordinary" citizens suddenly
find themselves committed to a group whose leader promotes criminal activities and
isolation from families and friends? What should you do if a loved one becomes
indoctrinated by a potentially dangerous cult? The book focuses on various cults and
their often criminal belief systems.
In addition to providing insight into the somewhat off-beat world of cults, Captain
Snows books offer practical advice and insight. For instance, like family abuse,
stalking is a crime widely misunderstood. While many people see stalkers as simply
lovesick people pining away for someone who doesnt love them, all too often stalkers
are actually mentally ill, potentially violent, and occasionally even deadly. In his book
Stopping a Stalker, Snow provides readers with the crucial information they can use to
protect themselves and their loved ones from all types of stalkers. He also outlines
much-needed advice on how to prevent stalking before it starts, as well as
step-by-step guidelines on what readers can do to deter a stalker. Most important,
Captain Snow shows readers how to get the legal system on their side, and then use it
to bring stalkers to justice.
